We would like to delve into some essential post-op recovery items, from compression garments like the Ogee Faja to massage rollers and scar treatment solutions.
Let's explore how these products can help you achieve optimal post-surgical results:
When it comes to post-op recovery, one item that is absolutely essential is a faja compression garment. The recommended choice is the Ogee Faja, known for its ability to compress the key area and provide a functional fit with more compression where liposuction was performed and less where delicate fat was grafted. This garment is designed to support and shape your body as it heals.
Another important item for post-op recovery is a BBL pillow. This pillow is specifically designed to prevent any pressure on your fat transfer when you're sitting. By using a BBL pillow, you can ensure that your newly transferred fat remains intact and undisturbed.
Leakage is common during the post-op recovery period, which is why having the right type of padding is important. However, it's vital to note that the padding should only be used on your bed to manage any leakage. Never put padding directly against your body or wear adult diapers, as these can introduce potential sources of infection.
Gauze is a surgical material that is used to clean your wounds. By gently cleaning your wounds with gauze, soap and water, you can promote proper healing and reduce the risk of infection.
During the recovery period, it's essential to maintain proper hydration and electrolyte balance. While massaging helps eliminate excess fluid from your body, it's important to be mindful of replenishing the lost fluids. Pedialyte is a recommended option for electrolyte replenishment when you're dehydrated. Ensure you are not consuming a lot of excess sugar or calories with your hydration.
For ladies, going to the toilet during the post-op recovery phase can be challenging. That's where baby wipes come in handy. They provide a convenient and cleaner alternative for personal hygiene. Having a packet of wipes on hand can make the process much easier and more comfortable for you.
After a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure, sitting can put pressure on the newly transferred fat. To avoid this, using a device called a Shewee can be beneficial. Shewee allows women to stand over the toilet while urinating, eliminating the need for sitting and minimizing the risk of disrupting the fat transfer.
When you undergo BBL and liposuction, leaking can occur, especially in the groin area. This can lead to chafing and discomfort. To prevent chafing, applying a bit of Caniston cream can provide lubrication and create a waterproof barrier, protecting your skin from the leaking fluid.
During the recovery period, you'll likely spend a significant amount of time lying on your stomach. This can make it challenging to drink without a straw. Having a drinking cap with a straw that bends can make it much easier for you to stay hydrated while maintaining a comfortable position.
Lying on your stomach for an extended period can cause stiffness and discomfort in your neck and lower back. To alleviate these symptoms, a hot and cold pack can be an effective solution. Applying heat or cold to these areas can provide relief and help you feel more comfortable during the recovery process. Use them only for 20 minutes at a time and make certain to not apply them directly to your skin.
Post-operative rollers are invaluable tools for breaking up any hard areas that may develop after surgery. By using a roller, you can massage and stimulate the affected areas, promoting circulation and aiding in the breakdown of scar tissue. This can contribute to a smoother and more even healing process. We suggest using the Ogee Roller with it’s detachable handles and vibration.
These are the essential items you need for your post-op recovery. From a faja compression garment to a roller, each item serves a specific purpose in ensuring a smooth and comfortable healing process. Remember to consult with your healthcare professional for personalized advice and follow their guidance throughout your recovery journey.
]]>The Ogee Faja was designed and created with all the bells and whistles, and you’ll understand that as soon as you put it on for the first time. You can depend on this faja to fit unlike any other on the market. It will support you like a best friend and hug you like a lover, but that also means that getting it on isn’t always easy.
The faja -- while comfortable and breathable -- post-surgery, or even just simply trying the garment on for the first time, can prove to be a little tricky. Its snug design, stretchy material and hook and eye enclosure does take a bit of practice, but not to worry, we’re here to help!
Begin by scrunch your unfastened faja in your hands. Step in, one foot at a time, and pay attention to the anti-roll strip near the lace at the bottom of the leg. While carefully pulling your garment up, align your thighs, hips and buttocks with the seams.
Pro Tip: The garment will fit snugly, so be gentle if you’re fresh out of surgery. However, we do not recommend trying your faja on for the first time after surgery.
Then, begin adjusting the shoulder straps to your liking. Each body shape is different, but the Ogee Faja was designed to fit any torso length. The straps will hold the faja firmly in place, and will also pull the hook and eye enclosure section up until it comfortably lays beneath your breasts.
Adjust the straps to your liking, then slide your arms into the armholes and correct its positioning until your arms, armpits and upper stomach are comfortable.
Now, on to the eye hooks! It’s important to begin at the bottom and work your way up – this technique allows you to adjust along the way with a bit more ease.
Pro Tip: Secure/clip the first eye hook, closest to your breasts, to keep the faja in place before you begin from the bottom.
Once you have secured each hook and eye, make sure all your seams are aligned, and you’re comfortable – that includes ensuring that the faja fits correctly – snug but not too tight. Fajas that are too constricting after surgery can cause circulation and blood supply issues, so you’ll want to ensure that yours fits as it’s supposed to.
Now take a long hard look in the mirror and know you’re one step closer to the body of your dreams!
]]>Sometimes patients will come in worried about numbness and burning in the skin after a liposuction procedure or a BBL with lipo.
]]>I can advise patients on what’s normal and not during and after a procedure because I’ve spoken to MANY patients. When you’re first starting, this is a lot harder because you don’t have as much experience to tap into. As you start seeing more patients, this process becomes easier because you learn what to expect based on the patient’s feedback.
So, today we’re going to talk about numbness and tingling after liposuction.
Sometimes patients will come in worried about numbness and burning in the skin after a liposuction procedure or a BBL with lipo.
First, let’s start by saying – this is normal!
During lipo, the nerves just under the skin get injured, and as they heal and join back up, they send out little signals that often feel like burning, tearing, ripping, and even like a jolt of electricity. The level of this type of feeling is different from patient to patient – some will experience a lot, and some just a little.
This feeling after a procedure differs significantly from say a patient complaining of a dull ache or pressure. Understanding the signs from one person to another based on patient explanation takes time, experience, and talking to hundreds of folks that have undergone procedures of this nature.
Most importantly, this feeling will disappear, and there are ways to treat it.
As strange as it sounds, you treat this type of nerve regeneration with more touch. I always recommend medium-pressure touch (massage, scratching, etcetera) to give your skin multiple sources of sensation. This tactic will help the nerves heal.
Another way to treat this condition is using a rolling device, specifically the Ogee Roller. I recommend that patients use the Ogee Roller for 12 months after a liposuction procedure.
The Ogee Roller features heat, texture and vibration – the trifecta for sensation. You can use it like a rolling pin, and it will help reduce the numbness and aid in smoothing and softening the skin. Roll lightly for nerve pain and make it harder to address any lumpiness. You can get the best skin after liposuction by giving your body as much variability as possible.
Importantly, you can’t over-roll. We want to make sure your skin doesn’t look like it’s ever had lipo, and for that, I recommend purchasing the Ogee Roller and using it on the whole area at least once a day for an entire year.
]]>Remember, the more often you roll, the better your skin will look!
The Ogee EZBra is a sterile, disposable bra made of ultra-absorbent and breathable fabric – virtually eliminating the possibility of infection if worn correctly.
]]>Like any surgical procedure, complications can occur after a breast procedure. While problems after breast augmentations are rare, it is possible.
Capsular contracture is one of the most common causes of reoperation. Yet, it’s a complication that many patients don’t know about and is believed to be caused by infection.
Because an implant is a foreign body with no receptors, it can’t be rejected. Your body knows it shouldn’t be there but cannot mount an immune response.
As a reaction, your immune system creates a capsule around the implant, and while this happens in every patient, only some will experience hardening or calcification associated with capsular contracture.
In some cases, hardening can cause pain and the implant/breast to become distorted. It isn’t harmful, but it changes the look of the breast. In mild cases, one side might be a bit firmer than the other without pain, but in more serious cases, there is pain and severe distortion. In those circumstances, we re-operate.
While there is no way to tell what patients might be affected by this complication, there are ways to curtail your odds.
The Ogee EZbra offers all the best features of a great post-surgical bra and more. It provides:
But, even more significantly, it is also a sterile, disposable bra made of ultra-absorbent and breathable fabric – virtually eliminating the possibility of infection if worn correctly.
Instead of cleaning a recovery bra after it’s been soiled, you can remove the Ogee EZBra and throw it away. If you’re concerned about capsular contracture, want to minimize your risks of infection, or just enjoy ultimate results after surgery, the Ogee EZBra provides the best support in healing on the market.

Post-surgery, the importance of massage is very well-known, understood, and documented. Massage helps with swelling, lymphatic drainage, fibrosis, and much more.
]]>However, hypersensitivity is an additional typical issue after surgery, and it is best addressed through touch therapy. Certainly, massage may be considered a type of touch therapy, but it isn’t necessarily the channel most encouraged to address this particular issue.
Because nerves get disrupted during various procedures, a patient’s skin will likely feel strange after surgery. When a patient removes their faja, puts on clothes, or even touches themselves, it’s often accompanied by an unpleasant, prickly sensation. This is called hypersensitivity. To curtail this issue, which can be very uncomfortable, professionals recommend something called touch therapy.
Touch therapy is the process of reconnecting to your body through physical touch, and patients should begin this practice almost immediately after surgery. By touching and running hands over the parts of the body that have recently undergone a procedure, a patient can start to re-associate themselves with stimulation.
A patient might first begin a day or so after their procedure by gently rubbing the skin when in and out of the faja garment. Skin-to-skin contact is an excellent way to start this process, but just after the first week or so (as patients can tolerate), it is highly encouraged to add in a rolling device.
Utilizing the Ogee Roller as a rolling device will not only help eliminate hypersensitivity, but it will also minimize the buildup of fibrosis and swelling and encourage drainage.
The Ogee Roller has attachable handles, a textured surface, deep vibration, and heat. To use -- click on the detachable handles, and move the device like a rolling pin, applying the desired pressure. Begin by rolling the device on the skin without adding the device’s heat or vibration features.
Once a patient has moved on to the second pass-through, turning on the vibration and heat modes (per comfort) is recommended to squash hypersensitivity, fibrosis, and swelling.
In the early phase of recovery, patients may find using the Ogee Roller over top of their compression garment more comfortable. Further along in the healing process, patients are encouraged to use the Ogee Roller directly against the skin per their comfort level.

Before diving into the specifics, it's vital to grasp a general understanding of seromas. Seromas are fluid-filled pockets that can form at the surgical site post-operatively. They fall into two broad categories:
Now, coming to the main question: While the nature of seromas remains the same, fluid trapped below the skin and fat, their prevalence and location varies based on the surgical procedure. Tummy tucks, given their invasive nature, have a higher tendency to develop seromas, especially if there's extensive tissue dissection, whereas liposuction and BBLs, on the other hand, involve the removal or transfer of fat, which can also lead to pockets of fluid accumulation, albeit less frequently.
Fajas are specially designed garments that provide gentle compression to the treated areas, helping to reduce swelling and fluid buildup. Wearing an Ogee Faja after surgery can promote proper healing and contouring, while also providing support and comfort. By minimizing movement and providing gentle pressure, fajas help to prevent seromas. So, if you're looking for an effective way to enhance your recovery and promote optimal results, consider incorporating a faja into your post-surgical care routine.
In conclusion, seromas occur more frequently in patients undergoing a tummy tuck and typically occur in the front of the abdomen, where seromas from liposuction or BBL occur more commonly in the back over the area of the tailbone. That doesn't mean you cannot get a seroma from liposuction or a BBL in the front of the abdomen, it's just not as commonly send in the front as it is in the back. Always ensure to see your plastic surgeon if you are concerned you may have a seroma.

Lots of people will tell you that they have the be-all-end-all of scar treatment, but the truth is that the most significant thing when creating a scar treatment regimen is to take the time and stick to your routine.
]]>An ideal scar is:
Lots of people will tell you that they have the be-all-end-all of scar treatment, but the truth is that the most significant thing when creating a scar treatment regimen is to take the time and stick to your routine.
Don’t misunderstand, there are also significant evidence-based studies that have proven that there is, in fact, a proper way to tackle scar treatment outside of just making the time…
Let’s break it down.
First, you have to create a system that you follow religiously – meaning everyday – and it starts with purchasing the Ogee Scar Strips and the Ogee Scar Gel.
Here’s what a normal day should look like if you’re trying to get the perfect scar.
As soon as you arrive home from work:
Once your scar is dry and clean, apply the Ogee Scar Strip. These strips can be purchased for any type of scar. Put the strip over your incision and sleep in it all night.
Once you wake in the morning, start your routine over:
Now, you’ll want to apply your Ogee Scar Gel.
The scar gel combines all the top-notch scar healing tricks into one tiny, little rolling device. The battery-operated roller holds silicone-based gel (ideal for scar treatment because it locks in moisture and protects your scar), an easy-apply roller head AND vibration. You’ll want to really work this in – applying and massaging for two minutes minimum. You’ll want to add this to your scar treatment process twice a day for two minutes or more.
Driving the idea home, a great scar treatment routine means that you must invest the time. That said, once you’re three weeks post-operation, you’ll begin this process. The Ogee Scar Strips should be used daily for two months, and the Ogee Scar Gel should be applied twice a day every day for two minutes or more for ONE year – yes, you got it – one WHOLE year.
It takes a long time for scars to mature – starting as junior scars and eventually (after about a year) they become more organized and the red, lumpy and bumpy appearance should disappear if you’re doing what you should to help your body recover.
]]>Get proactive – treating your scar and be consistent! Trust us – if you invest just a few minutes of your time daily for a year - you will have an amazing looking scar…better yet – a non-existent one!
Fajas, compression garments worn after liposuction to minimize swelling and ensure skin tightening, is essential to give you the best result after your procedure. You might think all the magic of shaping a buxom bottom happens after the operating room doors close, but that's far from the truth.

As a plastic surgeon with more than 20 years of experience, I know much of the ideal outcome relies on a faja supporting my work through a functional fit. A faja needs to fit, but its purpose is more complex than just that. A faja must sculpt, smooth, and define what I like to call the Ogee line – the body's beautiful, natural curve - with mixed levels of compression that are specific to each area being targeted and reshaped.
For more than a decade now, I have used many types of fajas for my patients, but I could never find one that matched what I was doing in the operating room.
I kept searching for a product with varying levels of compression that would support the surgical work I performed, but I had little success. After a BBL, a patient's hips and buttocks require less compression because it is vital for the newly grafted fat to survive and grow. However, areas that receive liposuction, like the waist, need more compression to help define the hourglass shape. So, I decided to create my own.
Since Colombia is the birthplace of the faja, I started there. I found the best manufacturer and we went to work designing and redesigning until we engineered excellence - a fajanwith the sole purpose of complementing what happens in the operating room.
After 18 months and multiple designs, fabric choices, fittings, and redesign, we arrived at The Ogee Faja. It's the perfect way to protect your BBL results. The functional fit and custom compression hug your body in all the right places, providing a tailored fit that fulfills every post-surgical need.
The Ogee Faja, the first garment of its kind created by a board-certified plastic surgeon, provides more compression in areas that receive liposuction and less where new, delicate fat is placed. Ultimately, the design helps mold the perfect figure, preserve outstanding results, and ensure your outcome is exactly how it was envisioned before your operation and shaped during your procedure.
I'm so proud to share The Ogee Faja with you as you begin your journey. You deserve a compression garment that's as custom as every curve and assures that the radiant body you've dreamed of becomes a reality.

]]>Millions of people undergo liposuction yearly, and while it can be a life-changing surgery, results can become hampered due to lumpy skin. After these types of procedures, compression and manipulation of the skin and tissue help rid the body of excess fluid and decrease inflammation that can lead to an issue called fibrosis.
]]>During a procedure that includes liposuction, there is a separation of tissue caused by the cannula, the device used by plastic surgeons to remove the body’s fat deposits. The body’s natural response to tissue separation is to repair it by creating fibers, which is what leads to fibrosis, or lumps and/or bumps near the incision site. While this isn’t an uncommon hurdle after liposuction, it is usually preventable with the proper proactive measures.
Massages are always recommended to patients after liposuction or a BBL because it aids in recovery and minimizes a few potential issues (including fibrosis) that can arise after surgery.
In fact, professional lymphatic massages should begin the day surgery. By promptly starting massages and wearing a faja, patients are taking a crucial step in minimizing the possibility of fibrosis and other issues.
Certainly, lymphatic massage is vital to healing and absolutely necessary, but it can get pricy. And while a minimum of 10 professional lymphatic massages are recommended after surgery, Ogee Recovery’s Ogee Roller device is another way to ensure maximized healing while decreasing the changes of fibrosis.
The Ogee Roller, with its attachable handles, textured surface, and deep vibration and heat modes, challenges even the most difficult fibrosis cases. Alongside lymphatic massage and wearing a compression garment, patients can ensure the smoothest skin by using the Ogee Roller daily from the comfort of their home.
The device manipulates the skin using pressure, texture, and heat. Patients are encouraged to begin treatment one week after surgery and continue using the Ogee Roller for six months following surgery. The more frequently and the longer a patient rolls, the better their results.
To use, click on the detachable handles, and move the device like a rolling pin, applying the desired pressure. Begin by rolling the device on the skin without adding the device’s heat or vibration features.
Once a patient has moved on to the second pass-through, turn on the vibration and heat modes (per comfort) to squash fibrosis before it starts!
In the early phase of recovery, patients may find using the Ogee Roller over top of their compression garment more comfortable. Further along in the healing process, patients are encouraged to use the Ogee Roller directly against the skin per their comfort level.
By taking the extra time to purchase and use the Ogee Roller, patients put the power in their hands and take a huge step in maximizing results.

The EZbra is comfortable, and instead of simply having a zipper or clasps, it has a front-facing adjustable enclosure, allowing patients to tailor the fit to their body specifically while offering autonomy after surgery. Its gentle support anchors implants and drains in place.
]]>The more you know, the better you look – that’s my motto and for a good reason. I find myself learning every day, and I’m grateful, as it’s served me well during my career.
That’s a huge reason why I developed Ogee Recovery. After years and years spent doing body augmentations, I’ve learned a thing or two about the importance of proper post-surgical care. Following your plastic surgeon’s orders and purchasing/wearing excellent recovery products are prominent factors in ensuring outstanding results.
That said, after any breast surgery, a post-surgical bra helps to support implants or breasts through compression. Compression stops blood from pooling around incision sites, minimizes swelling, and aids your body in healing.
A recovery bra is pretty straightforward, and there are dozens on the market, but not all are created equal. Bearing in mind that you’ll be wearing it for 24 hours a day for your first two weeks, you’ll want to purchase a garment that:
The Ogee EZBra can be found on ogeerecovery.com, and I recommend it for several reasons. The innovative design offers an advanced solution to the discomfort and inconvenience patients experience after breast surgery.
Certainly, it offers all the features above, but it is also a sterile, disposable bra that’s easy to put on and made of ultra-absorbent and breathable fabric. Instead of cleaning a recovery bra after it’s been soiled, you can remove the Ogee EZbra and throw it away, minimizing the possibility of infection.
The Ogee EZbra is comfortable, and instead of simply having a zipper or clasps, it has a front-facing adjustable enclosure, allowing patients to tailor the fit to their body specifically while offering autonomy after surgery. Its gentle support anchors implants and drains in place.
Further, it’s made without rubber latex or underwire, making it perfect for anyone with allergies or sensitive skin. Multilayer dressing provides breathable absorption, ensuring your wounds stay clean and dry.

]]>Scars aren’t just a product of surgery. People deal with skin imperfections for hundreds of reasons.
But reducing the appearance of scars requires more than mindlessly putting on a quick coating of magic elixir. Instead, the most effective method to kiss scars goodbye requires a specific type of gel formula, technique, massage, and, most importantly – time.
Ogee Scar Gel, sold by Ogee Recovery, takes all the guesswork out of eliminating scars, and even better – it can be used on new, post-surgical, and old existing scars. The small, portable, and easy-to-use device lets patients achieve freedom from scars with a simple button flip.
The Ogee Scar Gel combines the power of ultra-hydrating silicon-based gel with a vibrating roll-on applicator head. The ointment is a semi-permeable barrier that works like skin – trapping the body’s moisture to keep scars hydrated while allowing air to flow freely. The combination of massage, hydration, and airflow creates an ideal environment for healing.
Start by shaking the roller vigorously for about 20 seconds. Then, add batteries and flip the switch located on the bottom. While moving the device over the scar, the gel formula accumulates on the roller’s tip and provides gentle vibration. The combined application method expedites healing and helps to eliminate the appearance of scars.
As mentioned, it’s important not to rush through the application. The whole process should take about two minutes and be done daily for an entire year for the best outcome. Remember, incisions must be completely healed before using this product – approximately three weeks post-surgery.

Massages are real great for a couple of reasons. Number one, the early massages, which I always recommend having the next day beginning the day after surgery, are really good for removing the fluid that your body produces, and some of the fluid that’s left behind from the liposuction. That’s why I leave all of the incisions open after I do a BBL or liposuction. After surgery, yourmassage therapist will go through and they’ll express the fluid from your abdomen, back and sides. That technique helps get rid of the layer that’s between your underlying skin and your fascia, which is the covering over your muscle. When that fluid is expressed, it will help that skin and the bit of fat remaining underneath the skin to stick down.
I recommend starting these massages the day after your surgery – some people begin the day of their surgery, but I don’t recommend that. I always suggest at least a minimum of 10 massages, but those early massages you want to have those done every day. I usually also recommend patients that are not from Miami or from the South Florida area to stay in area for a week after surgery. Usually, patients will have four or five massages here before they go back home, and once they’ve returned home, they’ll want to continue on and complete at least ten massages.
The second reason that massages are really helpful is that they help to soften the tissue that’s left behind. Remember when you have liposuction, you’re going to get a lot of inflammations, which is normal. We’re led to believe that inflammation is always a bad thing, and so many of us take medication to stop it, but inflammation is actually a normal response to healing, and we want it to happen.
However, the inflammation after liposuction can lead to some fibrosis and hardening of the tissue left behind - so you’ll want to make sure to begin your massages and continuing with them, to decrease the chances of bad fibrosis.
The faja, or compression garment, is a really important part of recovery for liposuction or BBL. It was developed in Colombia, and a lot of that influence from South America is here in the Miami area. However, it may not be as well known to some other patients who consider it more of a simple compression garment. But the faja is more than just a compression garment – in fact, it does a whole list of important things. after liposuction or BBL to help you heal.
The faja is different throughout your whole recovery process. So, let’s break it down and talk about how it works in the very beginning. The faja gets put on you after your surgery while you’re still asleep, and it will be tight when you wake. We always want the faja to be snug, but not too tight because its initial role is to simply apply compression. It’s very strong elastic that creates firm compression and limits your bleeding. It is essential for you to wear your faja from the moment you leave after surgery until you come in the next day for your post-operative appointment. During this time, the nursing staff is going to help you open it, change your dressings and addressing other post-surgical things
The first use of the faja provides compression, which limits bleeding, but to a certain extent, it will limit swelling. After surgery, when the fluid forms between your muscle and that overlying skin, the faja will apply compression to reduce that dead space that’s created once the fat is removed. So, it will not only apply compression and reduce bleeding, but it also limits the amount swelling because it reduces the amount of fluid that can accumulate in that dead space.
Another reason the faja is important is because it provides a great deal of comfort to patients. Think about when you bang your elbow or get injured – your first instinct is to grab the area in pain and apply some pressure because it provides comfort and security when you’re in pain.
As time goes on during the first week, your body is going to change dramatically. Originally, you’re going to swell for those first few days, and then you’re going to start to get rid of that fluid and your body is going to shrink. Remember, your body is going to shrink in different ways – if you had a BBL that fat is going to shrink slower than the skin that’s going to shrink and re-drape over your abdomen.
You’re going to find that at one week your faja is not going to fit you properly. It’s probably going to be a little bit loose in the butt, but it’s going to be very loose in the waist. It’s at this time that we recommend that you see a tailor or seamstress, and have your faja altered. Getting your faja altered is really the most affordable way to get a custom faja. Getting your faja alter also ensures that it always fits properly.
However, if you find that you’re shrinking so much that you need a smaller size, than please, purchase a smaller faja that fits you more appropriately.
I always recommend that patients will stay in the faja for three months. The first six weeks they’re going to be in it 24/7, and the last six weeks they will be in it for half the day - usually just during the day and then not at night.
I don’t believe that there is a such thing as a stage 2 faja. I don’t think you should be going into a lighter compression faja. Patients should be staying in the same garment and getting it altered - that way it’s always fitting correctly – snug but comfortable. You can actually apply too much compression and get some areas (usually on the side) where there’s too much compression, and it can injure the blood supply. So please pay mind to how tight your garment is fitting.
There will also be other things that are going to go inside the faja - boards and foams. We’re not going to put you in that right after surgery. Instead, patients need to wait until after the first few days to start wearing the foams. They are generally placed on the sides, and our staff and yourmassage therapist can certainly help.
Then, you’re also going to want to use a board, which is a like a table or Mesa. It’s going to go in the front, and apply more compression. As mentioned, all of these additional measures are used to decrease the amount of dead space so that we get good adherence of the skin and the fat.
Please do not wear a waist trainer with a faja. Waist trainers can create too much compression, and I’ve seen problems from that. I’m not a big proponent of a waist trainer personally, but if you want to wear a waist trainer later – after the three months - that’s fine.
After the first three month, your faja has done its job and you need to discontinue use. It is not beneficial to continue wearing it after the three months, and it can actually cause harm.
Imagine if you have planted a brand-new tree, and a landscaper places 2x4s around the tree to support it while the roots grow strong. That’s the way I envisioned the faja working at the beginning. A faja will support you in the beginning when you need help, but you don’t want to stay in it so long that you begin to depend on it. If you start to rely on the faja to keep your form, you’re not relying on your own muscles, and they need to work, strengthen and tone.
Finally, I love making hips – in fact it’s a huge part of the Ogee, but I often hear that patientsaren’t wearing their faja because they don’t want their hips to go away. As I mentioned, the fajais going to help the fat on your hips to survive. Please don’t skip the faja thinking that it will help you retain more fat in the hips - what actually causes fat loss on that area is pressure from your own skin and soft tissue if your skin is very tight.

While a patient’s swelling after a BBL is likely to peak around day three, professionals believe that patients will hit a mental health roadblock by day five. During this point in recovery, many women are at their sorest, most sleep deprived, and are genuinely starting to doubt the process.
Every patient will go through a bit of depression during recovery (each person is different), but the best way to combat these feelings is by taking a proactive approach during healing and preparing through education. Patients can better prepare themselves if they know what and when to expect things during the recovery timeline.
A faja is a compression garment worn after liposuction or a BBL. It reduces bleeding, minimizes inflammation, prevents fluid retention, and encourages overall healing – vitally essential factors that protect and preserve results.
Wearing a faja is gospel – get one and wear it daily - 24.7. Not only will it provide supportive compression, but it will also help patients feel more comfortable and protected.
Get aggressive about maintaining a lymphatic massage routine. Before a BBL, schedule the first ten lymphatic massages. The first five should be every day after surgery.
During a lymphatic massage, certified specialists expel lymphatic fluid through your incisions (while open) and the body’s lymph nodes or lymphatic system. By creating a triangular-like shape with their hands, specialists apply minimal sweeping pressure using slow, gentle motions.
Because of soreness, the massages will be painful at first, but patients will leave feeling much better.
In addition to lymphatic massage, the Ogee Recovery’s Ogee Roller is an excellent way for patients to take self-care into their own hands. With its attachable handles, textured surface, and deep vibration and heat modes, the Ogee Roller takes massage to another level in the comfort of a patient’s home.
The device manipulates the skin using pressure, texture, and heat. Patients are encouraged to begin treatment one week after surgery and continue using the Ogee Roller for six months following surgery. The more frequently and the longer a patient rolls, the better their results.
***Tips for Use - Click on the detachable handles, and move the device like a rolling pin, applying desired pressure. Perform the first pass over the skin (or faja) without adding the device’s heat or vibration features. Move on to the second pass-through, turning on the vibration and heat modes per comfort.
Combat pain through movement and walking. Pain in the lateral and lower flank area can get severe because that’s where fluid and blood pool. Through walking and stretching, the body can naturally start to expel fluid. Expelled fluid means less swelling and less swelling means more comfort. Move as frequently as tolerated.

Spoiler: a waist trainer does not “train” your waist.
Before jumping into why a waist trainer isn’t an ideal solution for reshaping your waist, we need to understand some anatomy.
Your chest cavity holds a lot of vital organs, including your heart, lungs, and more. These organs, specifically your lungs, are squishy.
As you’re probably aware, as you inhale, your lungs expand, and as you exhale, your lungs get smaller. What causes this is the movement of the diaphragm, which is a small, sheet-like muscle that sits below your lungs. When it’s down, it increases the size of the chest cavity, and vice versa when it’s up.
While some folks might be convinced that a waist trainer actually trains the waist, the truth is...it just doesn’t. It simply displaces the fat from your abdomen and pushes it into your chest cavity - this can create a few issues depending on how much internal fat you have. A waist trainer pushes the contents of your guts and diaphragm into your chest, limiting how your lungs can open and expand.
If you’re a person with a lot of internal fat – it is likely hard to talk or move while wearing a waist trainer because it compresses your lungs, fat and other organs so much that the capacity of your lungs decreases – meaning it’s hard to take a nice, full deep breath. The less internal fat you have, the easier it will be to move and breathe while wearing a waist trainer.
It is essential to mention that a person wearing a waist trainer will appear to have a smaller waist while wearing it, but not because the waist is being trained or reshaped. The fat will return to its usual place as soon as the garment is removed. Trainers will work as a piece of shapewear, but nothing is better than losing weight on your own.
Further, an alternative to a waist trainer as shapewear is a faja. A faja provides cinching in the waist and down the length of your body, giving you an hourglass figure without overemphasizing pressure on your abdomen. It smooths the body out from the upper back, through the midsection, and down passed the hips into the lower thighs.
Post-surgery patients will sometimes want to wear waist trainers on top of their fajas, which is highly discouraged. The results will not be better. In fact, more cinching and pressure in that area often leads to complications related to oxygen and blood supply.
]]>After any breast surgery, a post-surgical bra is vital. It helps to support implants or breasts through compression. Compression stops blood from pooling around incision sites, minimizes swelling, and aids the body in healing.
]]>After any breast surgery, a post-surgical bra is vital. It helps to support implants or breasts through compression. Compression stops blood from pooling around incision sites, minimizes swelling, and aids the body in healing.
A recovery bra's purpose is pretty straightforward, and though there are dozens on the market, not all are created equal. Purchasing the right garment is important since patients wear recovery bras 24 hours a day for the first two weeks. An excellent recovery bra should be:
While a garment that has the above features is ideal, what's most important is ensuring the proper fit.
Ideally, this garment should be snug but not too tight, providing supportive compression without pain or cutting off circulation. The bra is too tight if skin is bulging, covered in indentations, or spilling out from the bottom or sides. Additionally, shoulder straps should not cause pain or leave marks.
Finding a bra that provides all the above features is difficult, but Ogee EZBra does just that while also being sterile, hygienic, disposable, breathable, and ultra-absorbent.
The Ogee EZBra is comfortable, and instead of having a clasp or zipper so every wearer gets the same compression, it has a front-facing adjustable enclosure. The adjustable enclosure seamlessly fits every type of body, allowing patients to find their ideal compression level with autonomy after surgery when movement can be painful or difficult.
Ogee EZBra is designed to fit perfectly, minimize infection and provide ease during recovery to ensure exceptional results.
]]>Nobody desires a scar post-surgery, yet it's a natural consequence of most surgical procedures. The key lies not in avoiding scars but in optimizing their appearance. Dr. William's Ogee Scar System simplifies the process of attaining the best possible scar post-surgery.
]]>Firstly, it's essential to understand that a typical scar needs around 12 months to mature fully. Throughout this period, the scar's appearance can be influenced, meaning consistent care is pivotal. If you only focus on scar care for a month post-surgery, you're unlikely to see optimal results. A well-healed scar is flat, thin, and blends seamlessly with the surrounding skin. Here's the approach:
Using the system is simple. Every evening, position the scar strips over the incision and keep them on overnight. Come morning, take them off, clean and dry the incision area, and then apply the Ogee Scar Gel. To apply the gel, first, shake the bottle so the gel reaches the rollerball tip. Activate the vibration feature and gently massage the gel onto the scar, using small circular motions along the incision's path. This process should be repeated twice a day, with each application lasting about two minutes.
There's no harm in frequently using the scar strips or in massaging the area. Commit to this regimen for a year post-surgery. If you prioritize one activity, let it be the massage.
Stay away from hydrogen peroxide, ethyl alcohol, witch hazel, betadine, and, surprisingly, vitamin E. Contrary to popular belief, vitamin E hasn't been proven beneficial for fresh surgical wounds. It can potentially obstruct collagen formation and even cause allergic reactions in some people.
A week after surgery, consider applying sunscreen (minimum SPF 35) if you anticipate sun exposure. Given our routine exposure to UV radiation, daily sunscreen application is wise, even if direct sun exposure isn't expected.
Even with meticulous wound closure, scarring varies among individuals due to genetic differences. The scar's location also affects its appearance. For example, scars on high-tension areas like the shoulders or back may be broader than those on low-tension areas, such as the face or hands.
These terms are often confused. Hypertrophic scars are thick and red but stay within the incision's boundaries. Keloids, more common in darker skin tones, grow beyond the incision and are denser. Each requires a distinct treatment approach.
One should only consider scar revision after it has fully matured (around 12 months). Bear in mind that revising a scar doesn't always yield better results; in some instances, the revised scar might appear more prominent, especially with keloids. Regular massage and consistent use of the scar strips can significantly reduce the need for revisions.

While many patients focus on achieving the tiniest waist by compressing and layering waist trainers over their fajas, they tend to overlook the care of their skin—a significant oversight. While fajas, foams, and boards indeed play a pivotal role in post-operative care, rolling, in my view, is paramount. It is the key to achieving the smoothest skin post-liposuction.
THE OGEE ROLLER: A THREE-STEP PROTOCOL
Our silicon-based scar gel provides a semi-permeable barrier that works a lot like skin. It traps in the body’s moisture, keeping scars or incisions hydrated while allowing oxygen to move freely. Through permeable hydration, silicon gel combines two powerful forces in healing.
]]>Research has found that the key to eliminating scars isn’t just skin deep. Treatment of scars should be multi-pronged, beginning with an effective scar gel.
Our silicon-based scar gel provides a semi-permeable barrier that works a lot like skin. It traps in the body’s moisture, keeping scars or incisions hydrated while allowing oxygen to move freely. Through permeable hydration, silicon gel combines two powerful forces in healing.
Also, silicon works like a slick barrier between your finger and scar, making application easier because your skin slides without friction. Rubbing your finger over a tender scar or new incision is challenging enough. A silicone gel helps your skin to glide easily, so you aren’t aggravating what alright might be a delicate area.
The Ogee Scar Gel, sold by Ogee Recovery, takes the power of silicon to the next level by adding a few additional features.
Understanding that ideal scar reduction results are achieved when a medical-grade silicone-based gel is worked into a scar or incision using pressure and massage, the Ogee Scar Gel combines the power of ultra-hydrating silicon-based gel with a vibrating, roll-on applicator head.
Add batteries to simulate vibration, flip the switch located on the bottom, and roll! The silicone formula accumulates on the roller’s tip while the device provides gentle vibration to soften and flatten scars.
It is also small, portable, and easy to use – allowing all types of patients to finally achieve freedom from scars with a simple flip of a button.

]]>First, it’s right to be cautious about compression after a BBL. Too much can cause a laundry list of issues -- loss of fat and volume, but also more threatening complications that can make an already difficult recovery even more challenging. Too little, and you risk scar tissue, fibrosis, comfort, and much more.
Plastic surgeons worldwide estimate approximately 20-50% of the fat injected during a BBL won’t survive (because of compression and just the way the body works), but really, there is no way to ever really know an exact number, and that’s why we designed the Ogee Faja – it’s like the insurance policy for your BBL.
Ogee Faja compliments a BBL with snug but cautious compression that doesn’t exacerbate the loss of volume and fat, and while custom compression doesn’t just help shape and sculpt the body during recovery, it also reduces bleeding, minimizes inflammation, prevents fluid retention, and encourages overall healing – all vitally important factors that aid in protecting and preserving your results.
After a BBL, a patient’s hips and buttocks need less compression because too much pressure can cut off the blood supply to the new fat. Maintaining blood supply to the grafted fat is essential to survival and growth. But areas that are lipoed, like the waist, back and key area, need more compression to help define the Ogee Line. The Ogee Faja was designed with these facts in mind. So, throughout the entire garment, varying levels of compression and Powernet - the faja’s firm mesh fabric that provides strength, durability and elasticity - create a comfortable, snug fit that molds the perfect figure long into recovery.
As mentioned, it’s right to be cautious about compression, but please don’t let your trepidation push you to the other extreme -- too little compression. Both too much and too little compression can have lasting adverse effects on your results. A properly fitting faja is as crucial to healing as selecting a caregiver or lymphatic massages. You can’t have exceptional results without it.

The Ogee Scar Gel, designed by an American board-certified plastic surgeon and based on a two-year study, was created to combine a roll-on medical-grade scar gel with deep-down stimulating vibration because the key to eliminating scars isn’t just skin deep. Even better, it comes in a small, discreet and easily transportable design.
Ideal scar reduction results are achieved when a silicone gel is worked into a scar or incision using both pressure and massage. The Ogee Scar Gel combines the power of ultra-hydrating silicon-based gel with a vibrating roll-on applicator head – the perfect combination.
The gel is a semi-permeable barrier that works a lot like your skin – it traps your body’s moisture in to keep your scar or incision hydrated while allowing oxygen to move through freely. The combination of moisture and oxygen creates an ideal environment for healing.
Simply add batteries, flip the switch located on the bottom and get started. The gel formula accumulates on the roller’s tip while the device provides gentle vibration that promotes the softening and flatting of scars. The combined application method expedites healing and helps to eliminate the appearance of scars.
Ogee Recovery is committed to excellence. The Ogee Scar Gel, as well as all other Ogee Recovery products, are developed to aid in a seamless recovery and ensure the best possible results after plastic surgery.

After a BBL, a patient’s hips and buttocks require less compression because too much pressure can cut off the blood supply to the new fat. Maintaining blood supply to the grafted fat is vital to survival and growth.
However, too much compression isn’t uncommon. While plastic surgeons worldwide estimate approximately 20-50% of the fat injected during a BBL won’t survive, we want to provide snug but cautious compression that doesn’t exacerbate the loss of volume and fat.
Further, areas that are lipoed, like the waist, back and key area, need more compression to help define the Ogee Line. The Ogee Faja was designed with these facts in mind – so, through these areas, the garment will fit more snuggly, helping to mold the perfect figure long into recovery.
Diving in even a bit deeper – it’s clear that the butt, hips, and legs require less compression because of the injected fat, but the garment mustn’t just lay on these areas either. Compression, while significantly less firm than what the garment provides through the waist, back and key area, is still vital in the more delicate areas.
Custom compression doesn’t just help shape but also reduces bleeding, minimizes inflammation, prevents fluid retention, and encourages overall healing – vitally important factors that aid in protecting and preserving your results.
Finally, but equally as important – compression provides comfort. You’ve probably noticed that after an injury, you hold the affected area firmly and close to your body -- that’s precisely the kind of comfort that the Ogee Faja provides after surgery, which helps patients to move around more freely with less pain post-op.

We understand your mind is probably racing with the dozens of things you need to get done before your surgical procedure – especially if it requires a longer recovery time.
]]>With that in mind, we’ve accumulated a checklist of things to consider pre-surgery. If you’re well on your way to having any plastic surgery procedure, please look at the below list of recommendations!
]]>
The only real difference between a stage 1 and stage 2 faja is the garment’s amount of compression. Because The Ogee Faja has Powernet and varying levels of compression throughout, it is a one-size-fits-all faja. Powernet is the faja’s firm mesh fabric that provides the perfect textile trifecta: strength, durability and elasticity,
The Ogee Faja can be used as both a stage 1 and 2 faja because of the difference in compression – lighter through the hips, buttocks and legs and more through the back, waist and key area. The varying compression offers just the right amount in each area to ensure excellent results throughout recovery.
Further, because of its adjustable hook and eye enclosure (four levels), you can continue cinching throughout your journey – all you do is select the tighter hook and eye, just like you would with a bra. This design choice offers firm but gradual compression. It is important to remember that your garment should always fit snuggly but not too tight.
Another factor to consider is fit post-surgery. During a BBL, nearly your entire body will experience changes, which means the garment you purchase, based on your measurements before surgery, will fit a lot differently afterward.
It’s recommended that as your body heals and changes that you get your Ogee Faja altered so that it always fits properly. Patients should expect to schedule their first visit for alterations after the first week of recovery. Please keep in mind compression garments that fit too tightly can cause blood supply issues that often result in a loss of fat and volume.
Finally, if at any point you ever find that your garment is fitting too loosely, even with alterations, it’s advised that you purchase a new, smaller size to ensure the best fit and results.
]]>While breast surgeries are a wildly popular with minimal risk and quick recovery, it’s still vital to walk into the operating room with some knowledge of the type of procedure you’re undergoing.
]]>Simply put, a breast augmentation, also known as an augmentation mammoplasty, is a procedure that increases breast size, and it can be done in two ways, via implant or by just enhancing the existing breast with fat transfer.
An augmentation emphasizes fullness, shape and size, and people can get them for various reasons, including confidence and even to rebuild breasts because of a medical condition.
While a breast augmentation is meant to increase size, a breast reduction, or reduction mammoplasty, does just the opposite. Again, there are several reasons why someone might want a reduction, but the procedure itself focuses on the removal of fat, tissue and skin, and lifting the breast.
It’s important to also note that breasts are made of both fat and tissue. Women who are mostly made of breast tissue have heavier breasts verses women with light, soft breasts that are mostly fat.
A person might know the difference based on whether the breasts shrink during weight loss. Women with lots of breast tissue, or heavy, dense breasts, won’t experience much size change with weight loss. Women who have more fat will see a noticeable difference after losing weight.
A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a solution for women who feel they have saggy breasts. A lift is best when a patient feels they have good volume, but simply want their breasts raised and reshaped. The procedure itself helps create firmer, shapely breast and reduces sag. It’s important to note that a breast lift will not change the size of the breast.
An implant exchange is a surgery that removes and replaces your existing implant.
It’s vital to get the myths out of the way early – implant exchange can be done and the procedure is pretty common, but an exchange isn’t something you must do based on an implant’s “lifecycle.”
A common misconception is that you have to do an implant exchange every ten years, and this is just not true. There are scenarios where this surgery is the best option, but it’s important to know that changing implants isn’t a simple procedure – in fact, it usually consists of a few different operations.
There are a few reasons why someone might want to do an implant exchange:
Despite the circumstances of a breast implant exchange, the procedure usually consists of multiple types of surgery – often meaning an additional lift or change to the pocket.
As you can see, there are many different types of breast surgery, each with its own nuances. It’s important to know all your options before making a decision, so that you and your plastic surgeon can ensure you’ll get the results you desire!

The Ogee Roller, introduced to the market by a seasoned American board certified plastic surgeon and Duke University alumni, will change the recovery process for liposuction patients forever.
]]>Each year millions of people undergo liposuction, and while it can be a life-changing procedure, results can become hampered due to lumpy, fibrotic skin. The Ogee Roller, with its attachable handles, textured surface, and deep vibration, is turning the plastic surgery arena on its head and challenging even the most difficult fibrosis cases.
During a liposuction procedure, there is a normal separation of tissue that happens based on how every surgeon uses the cannula to remove the body’s fat deposits. The body’s natural response to the separation of tissue is to repair it by creating fibers, which can often lead to fibrosis or lumps and/or bumps near the incision site. While this isn’t an uncommon hurdle after liposuction, in most cases, it is preventable with the proper proactive measures.
Alongside lymphatic massage and wearing a compression garment, plastic surgery patients can ensure the smoothest skin possible by utilizing The Ogee Roller, a state-of-the-art rolling device that manipulates the skin using pressure, texture, and heat. From the comfort of your own home, the Ogee Roller does precisely that while also decreasing areas of numbness.
“This rolling device with its heat, vibration and little pyramids is a must-have after undergoing liposuction. The results are totally different when patients roll after lipo.” – Dr. William, Miami.
Simply click on the detachable handles, and use the Ogee Roller like a rolling pin, applying firm pressure on all areas treated with liposuction. Once you begin the second pass-through, switch on the vibration and heat modes to stimulate the fascia and increase blood flow to tighten and smooth skin.
In the early phase of your recovery from liposuction, you may find it more comfortable to use the Ogee Roller on top of your compression garment. However, you’ll want to use the Ogee Roller directly against your skin as you heal and get more comfortable. Work especially hard on areas that feel more firm—rolling to smooth and amplify results.
Tip: Begin one week after your surgery and continue for six months following surgery. The more frequently and the longer you roll, the better your results.
Ogee Recovery is committed to excellence. The Ogee Roller, as well as all other Ogee Recovery products, was developed to aid in a seamless recovery and ensure the best possible results after plastic surgery.

The conference will cover Dr. William’s most specialized surgeries, like the BBL, liposuction, tummy tuck and breast surgeries, and provide attendees with an opportunity to ask in-depth questions, and a chance to get a deduction on their surgery.
As the founder of Ogee Recovery, Dr. William will also introduce and discuss his innovative new faja taking the post-surgical compression garment industry by storm – The Ogee Faja.
The Ogee Faja is the first compression garment created by a board-certified plastic surgeon and provides varied levels of compression – more in areas that receive liposuction and less where new, delicate fat is placed. The functional fitting post-surgical compression girdle is made to perfectly compliment BBL, tummy tuck and liposuction procedures. New York conference attendees can purchase The Ogee Faja during the event.
“I’m excited to meet New York City and surrounding area residents who are interested in learning about plastic surgery and to help educate them before going under the knife,” said Dr. William. “Despite whether they visit me or another board-certified plastic surgeon for a procedure, I think the most important thing that any potential patient can be armed with is knowledge. I hope to share as much as I can during my time in New York.”

Dr. William is American Board Certified with nearly three decades of experience in the plastic surgery arena. He’s studied in Michigan, Canada and spent the last three years of training specializing in plastic surgery at Duke University. He’s coined Ogee Lipo, a type of liposuction that follows the idea of the Ogee line, a naturally occurring line in nature and architecture that connects a concaved and convex line – creating a natural hourglass silhouette that’s custom to each body.
]]>Part three will go over vectors and pelvis shape and expectations, significant topics to understand before surgery because both factor heavily influence BBLs and Ogee Lipo.
Vectors are significant to a BBL because they can limit what can be done in the operating room and even decide whether a patient is a suitable candidate for surgery. Understanding these different parameters before surgery is crucial because it will help align your expectations with more realistic results.
Based on the butt, pelvis and spine, patients will fall into one of three categories of vector – negative, neutral and positive. During a consultation, a plastic surgeon will examine your body from the front, back and sides to determine the correct category.
A neutral vector is the most common, and it’s when the spine comes down very straight, and the butt comes out just a little. This vector is considered a normal relationship between the spine and butt.
People with a positive vector tend to be a bit curvier and often appear more athletic. They have more tilt to their pelvis, and their butt pokes out a little more than someone neutral. The positive vector is seen less frequently than neutral.
Patients with a negative vector are the most challenging patients to operate on, and they are also the rarest - instead of the butt coming out in a positive or neutral vector, the top of their butt projects out more than the bottom. It’s almost like the pelvis tilts inward, and there is little to no volume.
If a patient starts in a negative vector and does not have soft tissue – those are red flags for surgery. This combination creates a big challenge, and sometimes these patients are even better off not having a BBL because there won’t be a significant change.
As mentioned above, vectors are created by the interaction between the spine and the pelvis. Consider the spine and pelvis as two separate but connected components.
First, the spine can tilt in all directions (and 100% of the time, there is often at least a slight tilt forward, backward, side to side, or even on the angles), and it can also be bent or arched.
Next, the pelvis (what the butt sits on – the bony pelvis) connects to the spine, and it can be straight or bent based on how it interacts with the spin. Further yet, the body isn’t symmetrical, and the pelvis can also interact with the legs. Sometimes surgeons even see patients with one leg a little longer than another, so they have a specific tilt to their pelvis. The way fat is deposited is mainly based on pelvic shape. Fat is used around this area to trick the eye.
The ultimate goal for anyone coming in for a BBL is volume and projection. That’s understandable, as it’s the whole point of the surgery. However, results will depend mainly on your vector category. That’s why understanding your vector is so vital before surgery.
Your plastic surgeon will likely go over these areas during your consultation. Still, if you understand what category you fall into ahead of time together, you’ll better understand what can be accomplished during surgery.
It makes sense that patients want to know what they’ll look like after a BBL, but dozens of components make us individuals and can alter the results of the surgery – a larger or smaller waist, different heights, more or less fat, soil level, pelvic shape and so much more.
It’s common for patients to bring in wish pictures of people who have gotten a BBL or even images of themselves that have been photoshopped or altered during their consult. However, it’s highly recommended not to base your expectations on wish pictures. Realistically, even the slightest difference can produce a very different shape.
During your consult, your doctor will look at your body and determine what’s best for you. You’ll discuss things like hips, soil, maximal projection, fat and hip height to paint a picture of what you’ll look like after surgery. Evaluating your fat, tissue and soil will help you and your doctor determine the fullness of your hips and butt.
